Ownerside is an owner-side operating consultancy for Coachella Valley businesses, founded and run by Matthew Alaimo. The company is "we"; the judgment layer is "me" — so this page is Matthew, in his own words.
In late 2014, a friend called about a treatment center that was hemorrhaging money — come figure it out. I'd never worked a day in addiction treatment. I tore the business down to the studs, got it profitable, and stayed in the industry more than a decade.
That's been the pattern for close to thirty years — telecom, marketing, staffing: walk in cold, teach myself to expert in the room, fix what's broken, move to the next problem. It's the part of business I love most. I've kept a company alive through a pandemic that shut my industry down overnight and met payroll through some hard years — just like you have, I'm sure. Everything either got fixed, or I made the hard call and lived to fight another day.
Like most people, I used AI as a better Google — until I had a platform to build that would've cost a small fortune the old way, and built it myself in months. That's when it clicked: the AI is a commodity. The judgment to know when, how, and whether to point it at your business is not.
